The Department of Finance & Procurement plays a crucial role in maintaining the county's financial management and accounting systems, ensuring timely information is available to both county agencies and the public. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations oversees internal auditing, compliance, financial accounting, budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.

Position Summary

The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is on the lookout for a meticulous and analytical professional to fill the role of Senior Accountant. This is a temporary position associated with the transition from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud, expected to last for two years. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will be tasked with overseeing financial reporting and accounting for the county's capital projects, grants, and debt. Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up projects and analyzing capital and grant funds along with revenue sources.
  • Classifying and closing out projects, performing reconciliations, and assisting with the annual audit and year-end financial reporting.
  • Collaborating across departments to address complex project-related issues.
  • Supporting ad-hoc projects and analyses, preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Researching and preparing work papers and analyses to facilitate the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
  • Contributing to other departmental areas as required.

This position offers a hybrid work environment with opportunities for telework.

Compensation

The hiring salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, along with four (4) years of relevant professional accounting experience, preferably within a governmental context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred qualifications include CPA, CPFO, and VGFOA certifications, as well as completion of GAAP courses. Experience with major ERP systems, particularly Oracle, is also preferred.
