Position Title: Senior Accounting Project Coordinator (PMP)

ALTA IT Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Project Coordinator to collaborate with a government contractor in the DC Metro region.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in business process optimization, financial reconciliation, resource management strategies, project assessments, and solution recommendations:

  • Overseeing Federal programs/projects with a focus on process enhancement, reconciliations, Governmentwide Treasury Account Symbol (GTAS), Journal Vouchers (JVs), IPAC, intragovernmental transactions, Property Plant & Equipment (PP&E), capitalization, depreciation, and financial reporting.
  • Managing client projects, including resource allocation, executive briefings, project timelines, activity oversight, and communication pathways.
  • Establishing priorities, adhering to deadlines, and making impactful project decisions.
  • Formulating and executing financial compliance protocols to ensure the organization's reliability in compliance performance.
  • Collaborating effectively and serving as a subject matter expert within a team to achieve ambitious goals and established performance metrics.
  • Creating both short-term and long-term strategies to address issues, define program objectives, secure necessary resources, and fulfill compliance program goals.
  • Advising senior leadership on a wide range of compliance, risk management, and strategic matters.
  • Exhibiting extensive knowledge in a leadership capacity (e.g., project lead, project manager) while applying core project management methodologies as outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Essential Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience or a combination of education and professional experience.
  • 8+ years in Financial Management and transformation initiatives.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated success in supporting Public Sector projects.
  • Five years of experience in accounting project management.
  • 5+ years of expertise in reconciliations, GTAS, IPP, PP&E, and JVs.
  • Ability to identify and meet client needs, fostering deep client relationships through networking, negotiation, and persuasion.
  • Proficient in preparing and delivering complex written and verbal communications, including defining resource needs, project workflows, budgets, billing, and collections.
  • Leading teams to create a vision, set direction, motivate members, build trust, leverage diverse perspectives, mentor staff, and promote continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong work ethic, capable of thriving under pressure to meet stringent deadlines, utilizing time efficiently, and achieving challenging objectives.
  • Proficient in project management software and technologies, such as Microsoft Project, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with financial and operational internal controls is advantageous.
  • Experience with Federal Oracle Financials is required.
  • Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a plus but not mandatory.
  • PMP certification is essential.
