Store Operations Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As the primary liaison for Safeway patrons, the Store Operations Supervisor (SOS) delivers warm, friendly, and efficient service. In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers, the SOS assumes responsibility for the store, possessing equivalent authority to make essential decisions to ensure optimal profitability, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer service. When overseeing the store (typically during evening hours), the SOS will guide store personnel. The SOS may also perform duties as a Cashier-Checker (refer to job description). Responsibilities may include working across various departments within the store.
JOB DUTIES:
Safeway Store Operations Supervisors are generally accountable for fulfilling the following responsibilities:
Deliver customer service as defined by the employer, adhering to company policies. Effectively manage emergencies, customer grievances, employee or customer incidents, and oversee all store staff. Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures. Supervise the sales floor to ensure service quality and product replenishment. Restock items in displays near the checkout area. Assist in upholding a clean and safe working environment within the store. Support fellow cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues. Conduct basic office tasks to assist customers and staff. Operate electronic cash registers to finalize customer transactions. Process payments for customer purchases and provide accurate change. Package groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags. Lift bags into shopping carts. Offer assistance to customers with carry-out, and perform this task if a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable. May be tasked with completing end-of-day functions in the office. May be responsible for inventory counts of out-of-stock items. May count cash drawers when other cashiers are unavailable. Other duties as assigned.JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to adhere to company customer service protocols. Demonstrated prior customer service experience or related skills. Capability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues. Ability to comprehend and follow directives. Knowledge of all roles within the store. Capacity to work independently. Preferred: Previous experience as a clerk or manager.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
All store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.

Seldom. May use step stool while stocking/facing product on high shelves.
Trunk Functions:
Frequent neck rotation and bending of head. Occasional bending/stooping, twisting, crouching, and squatting. Seldom kneeling.
Upper Extremity:
Constant handling/grasping and repetitive motion while checking, facing, and replacing stock. Frequent fine finger manipulation.
V ision :
Use of peripheral vision and depth perception to navigate the store and maneuver carts in aisles. Near vision utilized to operate scanner, make change, and troubleshoot equipment.
Hearing:
To engage with customers, provide service, and respond to inquiries from employees and customers. Answer pages and telephone.
S peech :
To interact with customers and employees and utilize intercom/telephone.
