As the primary liaison for Safeway patrons, the Store Operations Supervisor (SOS) delivers warm, courteous, and efficient service. In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers, the SOS assumes control of the store, possessing the authority to make essential decisions to ensure optimal profitability, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer satisfaction. When overseeing the store (typically during evening hours), the SOS will manage store personnel. The SOS may also fulfill the role of a Cashier-Checker as outlined in the job description. There may be a requirement to assist in various departments throughout the store.

JOB DUTIES:

Safeway Store Operations Supervisors are generally tasked with the following responsibilities:

Deliver customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and in accordance with company policy. Effectively manage emergencies, customer grievances, employee or customer incidents, and oversee all store staff. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company policies and procedures. Supervise the sales floor to ensure quality service and product replenishment. Restock displays around the checkout area. Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the store. Assist fellow cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues. Perform basic office functions to support customers and staff. Operate electronic cash registers to finalize customer transactions. Process payments for customer purchases and provide accurate change. Pack groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags. Lift bags into shopping carts. Offer assistance to customers with carry-out, and perform this task if a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable. May be responsible for completing end-of-day procedures in the office. May oversee inventory counts for out-of-stock items. May assist in counting tills when other cashiers are off duty. Other duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to adhere to company customer service protocols. Demonstrated prior customer service experience or related skills. Ability to engage effectively with customers and colleagues. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Knowledge of all roles within the store. Ability to work autonomously. Preferred: Previous experience as a clerk or manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
