As the primary liaison for Safeway patrons, the Store Operations Supervisor (SOS) delivers warm, friendly, and efficient service. In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers, the SOS assumes responsibility for the store, possessing equivalent authority to make essential decisions aimed at optimizing profitability, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer service. When overseeing the store (typically during evening hours), the SOS will manage store personnel. The SOS may also perform duties as a Cashier-Checker (refer to job description). Responsibilities may extend to various departments within the store.

JOB DUTIES:

Safeway Store Operations Supervisors are generally accountable for executing the following responsibilities:

Deliver customer service in accordance with company standards and policies. Effectively manage emergencies, customer grievances, employee or customer incidents, and oversee all store staff. Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures. Supervise the sales floor to ensure service quality and product replenishment. Restock displays around the checkout area. Contribute to a clean and safe working environment within the store. Assist fellow cashiers with technical issues related to computers, registers, and scanners. Perform basic administrative tasks to support customers and staff. Operate electronic cash registers to finalize customer transactions. Process payments and provide accurate change to customers. Pack groceries in various types of bags. Assist customers with carrying out their purchases, especially when a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable. May be tasked with completing end-of-day procedures in the office. May be responsible for inventory checks of out-of-stock items. May count cash drawers when other cashiers are unavailable. Other duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to adhere to company customer service protocols. Proven experience in customer service or related fields. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and colleagues. Capacity to comprehend and follow directives. Familiarity with all roles within the store. Ability to work autonomously. Preferred: Previous experience in a clerical or managerial role.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
