Manufacturing Group Leader

I. Overview

The Manufacturing Group Leader is responsible for overseeing Team Leaders and team members within the designated manufacturing area, ensuring the effective execution of the group's responsibilities.

This role manages the manufacturing unit, aiming to achieve company objectives while adhering to all policies, production standards, and safety regulations.


II. Key Responsibilities
A. Supervision and Management
  • Act as a front-line supervisor for team leaders and team members.
  • Coordinate staffing, monitor work hours, and manage training and job rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and address performance issues appropriately.
  • Foster positive relations among team members based on trust and respect.
  • Provide motivation and direction to team members with a focus on safety and quality.

B. Production Leadership

Lead the manufacturing processes in the assigned area, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and schedules.

  • Implement Toyota Production System (TPS) techniques to standardize processes and eliminate waste.
  • Develop and document standardized work procedures.
  • Direct team activities and adjust work assignments based on production needs.
  • Ensure effective application of Toyota Boshoku Business Practices (TBBP).
  • Step in to perform team leader or member tasks as needed to maintain operations.

C. Quality and Safety Management
  • Monitor production flow and quality, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to address quality issues.
  • Proactively identify potential problems and implement innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate machinery and equipment performance and coordinate repairs.

D. Continuous Improvement
  • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety and quality.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Encourage team members to contribute ideas for process enhancements.

E. Safety Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits and lead ergonomic assessments.
  • Monitor team member health and safety conditions.

F. Training and Development
  • Oversee training programs for team members to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain training records and develop training plans.
  • Facilitate continuous development through feedback and coaching.

G. Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities and issues.
  • Prepare reports on departmental performance metrics.

H. Communication
  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and with other departments.
  • Coordinate shift communications to ensure operational continuity.

III. Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum of three years in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least two years in a leadership role.

Skills:
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Language Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Computer Skills:
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment:

This position operates in both an office and a manufacturing environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
