Manufacturing Group Leader

I. Overview

The Manufacturing Group Leader is responsible for overseeing Team Leaders and team members within the designated manufacturing area, ensuring the successful execution of operational responsibilities.

This role manages the manufacturing group as a cohesive unit, striving to meet company objectives while adhering to Toyota Production System standards, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks.


II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Leadership and Supervision
  • Oversee the hiring and placement of team members in collaboration with the Assistant Manager, while monitoring staffing levels, work hours, and training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, addressing performance issues as necessary.
  • Foster positive relations among team members, promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.
  • Provide motivation and guidance to team members, focusing on safety, quality, and productivity.
B. Production Management
  • Lead the manufacturing and production processes, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and schedules.
  • Implement Toyota Production System techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Direct team leaders and members in their daily tasks, adjusting assignments based on production needs.
  • Ensure adherence to Toyota Boshoku Business Practices for effective manufacturing operations.
C. Quality and Safety Assurance
  • Monitor production flow and quality, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to address any quality concerns and implement improvements.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and develop innovative solutions to maintain operational standards.
D. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Encourage team members to contribute ideas for process improvements and lead implementation efforts.
E. Training and Development
  • Facilitate training for team members to uphold productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintain a training matrix to ensure all team members receive necessary training and development.
III. Qualifications:
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience is required.
Skills:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
