Manufacturing Group Leader

I. Overview

The Manufacturing Group Leader oversees Team Leaders and Team Members within designated manufacturing sectors (such as assembly, injection molding, welding, etc.) to ensure the effective execution of the group's responsibilities.

This role manages the manufacturing group as a cohesive operational unit, aiming to meet company objectives while adhering to all corporate policies, Toyota Production System standards, and safety protocols.


II. Key Responsibilities
A. Leadership and Supervision
  • Act as a front-line supervisor for team leaders and team members.
  • Coordinate hiring and placement of team members, tracking staffing conditions and training.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships among team members based on trust and respect.
  • Motivate team members with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

B. Production Management

Lead and maintain the production system in the assigned area, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and schedules.

  • Implement Toyota Production System techniques to standardize processes and minimize waste.
  • Develop standardized work procedures for optimal efficiency.
  • Direct team leaders and members by assigning tasks based on production needs.
  • Monitor floor activities to uphold manufacturing effectiveness and rectify any sub-standard conditions.

C. Quality and Safety Assurance
  • Oversee the flow of materials and productivity, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to address any quality issues.
  • Proactively identify potential problems and implement innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate machinery and equipment performance, coordinating repairs as needed.

D. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety and quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Encourage team members to contribute ideas for operational enhancements.

E. Training and Development
  • Provide training and coaching to maintain high productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintain training records and ensure effective training of team members.
  • Support team members' development through performance evaluations and feedback.

III. Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

IV. Work Environment

The role is based in a standard automotive manufacturing environment, which may involve moderate noise levels and require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


V. Physical Demands

The position requires physical stamina to perform various tasks, including walking, standing, and lifting materials.
