I. Overview
The Manufacturing Group Leader is responsible for overseeing Team Leaders and team members within designated manufacturing sectors such as assembly, injection molding, and welding. This role ensures the successful execution of the group's objectives while adhering to company policies and Toyota Production System standards.
This position manages the operational unit of the manufacturing line, aiming to meet company goals related to safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Supervision and Team Management
- Oversee hiring and placement of team members in collaboration with the Assistant Manager, while monitoring staffing conditions and training.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Evaluate team member performance and recommend training or corrective measures.
- Foster positive relations among team members based on trust, respect, and teamwork.
- Motivate team members to prioritize safety, quality, and productivity.
Lead the manufacturing and production system in the assigned area, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
- Implement Toyota Production System techniques to standardize processes and minimize waste.
- Develop and document best practices for work procedures.
- Assign tasks to Team Leaders and team members based on production needs.
- Monitor floor activities to ensure adherence to business practices and address any sub-standard conditions.
- Step in to perform essential functions as needed to maintain operations.
- Oversee the flow of materials and productivity, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure quality standards are met and facilitate proper use of quality systems.
- Collaborate with the Quality department for investigations and corrective actions.
- Address daily production and safety issues proactively.
- Evaluate machinery and equipment performance and coordinate repairs.
- Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety and quality.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Encourage team members to contribute ideas for process enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in safety audits and ergonomic assessments.
- Monitor team member health and safety.
- Oversee training for team members, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with training standards.
- Support the development of team members through feedback and coaching.
- Collect and analyze data related to production activities.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics and issues.
- Facilitate communication among team members and across shifts.
- Ensure effective information flow between departments.
Education:
- Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of three years in a manufacturing environment is required.
- At least two years in a leadership role is necessary.
- Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in problem-solving and analytical skills.
