Manufacturing Group Leader

I. Overview

The Manufacturing Group Leader is responsible for overseeing Team Leaders and team members within the designated manufacturing sector (such as assembly, injection molding, welding, etc.) to ensure the effective execution of the group's objectives.

This role manages the manufacturing unit, ensuring alignment with company goals while adhering to Toyota Production System standards, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks.


II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Leadership and Supervision
  • Oversee the hiring and placement of team members in collaboration with the Assistant Manager. Monitor staffing levels, work hours, and training progress.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and practices, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Evaluate team member performance and recommend training or corrective measures as needed.
  • Foster positive relations among team members, promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.
  • Provide guidance and motivation to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
B. Production Management

Lead the manufacturing and production processes within the assigned area, ensuring adherence to departmental goals and timelines.

  • Implement Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies to standardize processes and eliminate waste.
  • Develop and document best practices for each manufacturing process.
  • Assign tasks to Team Leaders and team members based on production requirements.
  • Ensure effective application of Toyota Boshoku Business Practices to maintain operational standards.
  • Step in to perform essential functions of team leaders or members as needed to maintain workflow.
C. Quality and Safety Assurance
  • Monitor production flow, quality, and inventory levels, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and facilitate proper use of quality systems.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to address quality issues.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production and safety challenges.
  • Evaluate machinery and equipment issues, coordinating repairs as needed.
D. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Encourage and implement team member suggestions for improvement.
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and productivity.
E. Safety Management
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in safety audits and lead ergonomic assessments.
  • Monitor team member well-being and implement safety measures.
F. Training and Development
  • Oversee training programs for team members, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain training records and develop training plans for continuous improvement.
G. Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities and team member performance.
  • Prepare reports on production metrics and issues.
H. Communication
  • Facilitate regular communication with team members regarding operational updates.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
III. Qualifications:
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making.
