Job Description:

The Senior IT Support Specialist is responsible for executing intricate computer systems analysis tasks for the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services within a networked environment. This role encompasses the assessment and planning of user requirements, procedures, and challenges to enhance processing capabilities or refine existing systems.

The position involves the technical and tactical oversight of projects, solutions, upgrades, and modifications related to desktop and network infrastructure. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), workstations, and both hardware and software components.

The Specialist is expected to conduct thorough research, extensive testing, comprehensive documentation, and the implementation of innovative technical solutions or enhancements to computing systems. The role requires the ability to operate with limited supervision while exercising significant initiative and independent judgment.


Key Responsibilities:

- Execute advanced technology support functions for IT operations, including diagnosing and resolving issues related to computer systems or applications. (25%)

- Analyze and assess new or existing applications, procedures, and information systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and system specifications. (20%)

- Direct and manage projects to resolution, including technical analysis, planning, design, and implementation, while coordinating tasks across multiple resources to ensure effective service delivery. (10%)

- Evaluate and recommend actions regarding the testing and certification of software and hardware upgrades. (10%)

- Oversee the preparation of reports that summarize study findings, recommendations, and instructions for proposed system implementations, while developing logical descriptions of issues and optimal solutions. (5%)

- Determine operational, technical, and support requirements for the installation and maintenance of data processing and management information systems. (5%)

- Provide guidance to management and users on security protocols. (5%)

- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required. (5%)

- Mentor team members and end-users. (5%)

- Complete special projects as assigned. (10%)


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Proficient understanding of agency business applications and the capabilities of computer systems.

- In-depth knowledge of information technology equipment, including hardware and software, and operating systems.

- Familiarity with supporting and maintaining Windows-based servers and Microsoft Windows Active Directory Domain administration.

- Experience in network facilities support, data processing techniques, and data security protocols.

- Strong problem-solving, coordination, and negotiation skills.

- Ability to analyze systems and procedures, troubleshoot complex network issues, and communicate effectively.

- Capacity to manage multiple projects and maintain effective working relationships.

- Competence in organizing and prioritizing tasks, facilitating meetings, and conducting group training sessions.
