Job Overview:

The Senior IT Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in executing intricate computer systems analysis tasks for both Regional and State IT operations within a networked setting.

This position encompasses the planning and assessment of user needs, procedures, and challenges to enhance processing or refine current systems.
Responsibilities include the technical and tactical oversight of projects, technical solutions, upgrades, and modifications to both desktop and network infrastructure.
The role also involves the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, workstations, and associated hardware and software.
The Specialist is expected to conduct thorough research, extensive testing, detailed documentation, and the implementation of innovative technical solutions or computing enhancements.
This position operates under limited supervision, allowing for significant initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute advanced technology support functions for Regional and State IT operations in a networked environment, focusing on troubleshooting and resolving issues related to computer systems or applications.

Assess and analyze new or existing software applications, procedures, information systems, or utility programs, considering business requirements, system specifications, and equipment configurations to ensure they meet operational needs. (20%)

Direct projects to resolution, including technical analysis, planning, design, implementation, and coordination of tasks across multiple resources to guarantee effective service delivery.

(10%)

Evaluate and provide recommendations on the testing and certification of software and hardware upgrades. (10%)

Supervise studies and compile reports detailing findings, recommendations, and instructions for proposed system implementations; formulate logical descriptions of issues and devise optimal solutions. (5%)

Determine operational, technical, and support requirements for the installation, operation, and maintenance of data processing, data communications, and management information systems. (5%)

Assist in advising management and users on security protocols. (5%)

Participate in meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required. (5%)

Provide training to team members and end-users. (5%)

Complete special projects as assigned. (10%)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient understanding of agency business applications.
Familiarity with the limitations and capabilities of computer systems.
Knowledge of information technology equipment and computer hardware/software.
Expertise in computer operating systems and LAN environments.
Experience in supporting and maintaining Windows-based servers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory Domain administration and support.
Understanding of network facilities and data processing techniques, personal computer hardware/software, and data security protocols.
Strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
Proficient in scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing programs.
Skills in troubleshooting complex computer systems.
Ability to negotiate and create technical documentation.
Competence in analyzing systems and procedures.
Ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex network issues in an Active Directory environment.
Capability to write and revise standards and procedures.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on diplomacy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Competence in facilitating meetings and group training sessions.
