We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Financial Assistant to support the financial health of our congregation at Temple Israel of New Rochelle. This role is crucial in managing our financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, and contributing to our warm and welcoming community.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable/Receivable:

  • Process and pay invoices using QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile credit card statements and bank accounts.
  • Process deposits for membership dues, early childhood programs, and camp.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for various transactions.

Payroll:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all staff.
  • Administer benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Manage time-off accruals and deductions.

Auditing and Reporting:

  • Assist with annual audits, preparing necessary documents and worksheets.
  • Generate monthly financial reports, including P&L statements.
  • Update investment and budget information in QuickBooks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
