Daily Responsibilities of a Construction Estimator

Do you possess a sharp attention to detail and a desire to see projects materialize? Are you seeking a role that combines your numerical skills and industry knowledge in a significant way? With the backing of our self-performing team, the Construction Estimator position could be an ideal opportunity for your career advancement.

Primarily based at our headquarters, the Construction Estimator will support our self-perform division while also assisting with project management tasks as necessary. What does this entail?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with stakeholders, including owners, architects, partners, and team members.
  • Conducting thorough and comprehensive estimate take-offs.
  • Reviewing and analyzing drawings and specifications while clarifying contractual terms and conditions.
  • Building and managing relationships with teammates, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing for bid day by developing pricing and schedules, and coordinating bid submissions.
  • Ensuring that bids are complete, responsible, and comprehensive, with regular updates to job cost and labor cost reports.
  • Assisting teammates with project management duties as needed.
  • Representing Granger's values in all interactions, showcasing trust, honesty, fairness, integrity, compassion, and appreciation for teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical abilities to leverage critical thinking in project execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to anticipating needs and addressing issues.
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to follow through and meet deadlines.
  • Technological proficiency in construction management software.
