Role of a Construction Estimator

Are you detail-oriented with a passion for transforming concepts into reality? If you enjoy working with numbers and possess industry knowledge, the Construction Estimator position may be the ideal opportunity for you.

Primarily based at our headquarters, the Construction Estimator will collaborate with our self-perform division and assist with project management tasks as required. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining effective communication with owners, architects, partners, and team members.
  • Conducting thorough estimate take-offs.
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications to clarify contractual terms.
  • Building and managing relationships with teammates, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing for bid day by developing pricing and schedules and coordinating submissions.
  • Ensuring comprehensive and responsible bid submissions, regularly updating job cost and labor cost reports.
  • Assisting teammates with project management duties.
  • Representing Granger’s values in all interactions, emphasizing trust, honesty, fairness, integrity, and appreciation for teamwork.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical abilities to optimize project outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Self-motivated with a strong follow-through on tasks and deadlines.
  • Technological proficiency in construction management software.

Preferred Skills

  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Familiarity with construction-specific software such as ProCore, ViewPoint, and Microsoft Project.
