Role of a General Contracting Estimator

Do you possess a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for transforming projects from concept to reality? Are you seeking a career that merges your numerical expertise and industry insight with a significant role in project execution? The General Contracting Estimator position may be the ideal opportunity for your professional growth.

Primarily based at our headquarters, the General Contracting Estimator will collaborate with our self-perform division while also assisting with project management responsibilities as required. What does this entail?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with owners, architects, partners, and teammates.
  • Conducting thorough and comprehensive estimate take-offs.
  • Reviewing and analyzing drawings and specifications, clarifying contractual terms and conditions.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with teammates, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing for bid-day activities, developing pricing and schedules, and coordinating bid submissions.
  • Ensuring a complete and responsible bid process, regularly updating job cost and labor cost reports.
  • Assisting teammates with project management tasks.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador, embodying Granger's values of trust, honesty, fairness, integrity, compassion, and appreciation for team contributions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking abilities to enhance project outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive in anticipating needs and addressing issues.
  • Self-motivated with a strong follow-through on tasks and deadlines.
  • Technologically adept, with the ability to quickly learn new software and tools.
