Position Overview

The Financial Operations Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the month-end closing process across various business divisions. Key responsibilities encompass the analysis and reconciliation of selected general ledger accounts, preparation and posting of monthly accruals, and verification of operational and capital expenditures. This role also involves identifying areas for process enhancement, addressing accounting discrepancies, and supporting special projects as needed.

Core Responsibilities Include:
  • Preparation and posting of monthly recurring entries related to operational functions.
  • Conducting monthly analysis and preparing documentation for select balance sheet accounts across assigned business units.
  • Analyzing Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts to ensure timely and accurate posting of invoices, transfers, and adjustments, along with the preparation and processing of necessary accruals.
  • Reviewing invoices and expenses that have not been recorded in the ERP system prior to the close.
  • Ensuring divisional, administrative, and operational postings are accurately reflected in the general ledger accounts.
  • Maintaining compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Investigating and resolving accounting issues as they arise.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Financial Accounting & Reporting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash & Treasury, and FP&A to facilitate a timely and accurate close process at month, quarter, and year-end.
  • Working with other finance and accounting departments, operations, and support functions to identify and implement potential improvements.
  • Assisting with year-end audits by preparing documentation that supports balance sheet account balances.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the department.
  • Providing support to the Controller, Senior Director, and Senior Manager on special projects and analyses as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, along with 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA or MBA credentials are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in audit/research documentation are essential.
  • Understanding of the monthly closing process is necessary.
  • Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated proficiency in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and fixed asset software are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred but not essential.
