Position Overview

The Financial Operations Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the month-end closing activities across various divisions. This position is tasked with the analysis and reconciliation of specific general ledger accounts, preparation and posting of monthly accruals, and ensuring the accurate recording of both operational and capital expenditures. The role also involves identifying areas for process enhancement, resolving accounting discrepancies, and supporting special projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and record monthly recurring entries associated with operational transactions.
  • Conduct monthly analysis and create work papers that support selected balance sheet accounts across assigned business units.
  • Review COGS accounts to guarantee the timely and accurate posting of invoices, transfers, adjustments, and necessary accruals.
  • Analyze and accrue for invoices and expenses that have not been recorded in the ERP system before the close.
  • Examine divisional, administrative, and operational postings to ensure accuracy in general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting issues as they occur.
  • Collaborate with Financial Accounting & Reporting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash & Treasury, and FP&A to facilitate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Work with other finance and accounting departments, operations, and support functions to identify and implement potential improvements.
  • Assist in year-end audits by preparing work papers that support balance sheet account balances.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the department.
  • Support the Controller, Senior Director, and Senior Manager on special projects and analyses as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, along with 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA or MBA credentials are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and audit/research documentation skills are essential.
  • Understanding of the monthly closing process is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and fixed asset software are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, are important.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred but not essential.
