Position Overview:

The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer is tasked with the configuration, installation, and upgrades necessary to diagnose and maintain the hardware and software within the existing technological framework. This role is pivotal in troubleshooting basic issues and delivering support to devise suitable solutions that uphold the integrity of the platform, encompassing both hardware and software infrastructure that are vital to the organization's user base and application environments. Collaboration with other IT specialists, including Application, Architecture, and Database Engineers, is essential to ensure the seamless operation of all platform components.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop hardware configurations, software installations, and network upgrades in accordance with business requirements and established organizational standards.
  • Assist in resolving issues by utilizing user manuals or guides to enhance platforms in alignment with application objectives.
  • Support the configuration and integration of DevOps tools (such as API Gateway, Terraform) with other services like authentication, caching, and logging to meet organizational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the DevOps engineering and production teams to test new features and services, as well as support production launches.
  • Refine and review templates and scripts to facilitate the implementation and maintenance of automated fulfillment mechanisms, optimizing the delivery of essential platform services.
  • Create prioritized task lists for the team and identify dependencies on other teams working with the platform to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions to adhere to stringent security compliance.
  • Review and enhance draft security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures that form the foundation for protecting the infrastructure and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in producing high-level design documentation by taking responsibility for specific sections and ensuring their accuracy.
  • Compile data and preliminary research regarding user requests for new or modified systems or problem resolution.
  • Coordinate platform changes and customizations with vendors, ensuring clear communication of requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Platform Engineer or related role.
    Preferred: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience:
    2-4 years of experience in platform engineering and infrastructure components.
    Experience in automated interaction with physical infrastructure.
    Moderate understanding of managing and maintaining cloud-based environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
    Familiarity with monitoring and log management tools such as Nagios, Splunk, and ELK.
    Moderate understanding of developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
    Strong scripting experience in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
    Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
