Overview:

The Principal Application Integration Specialist is tasked with the architecture and design of applications, as well as overseeing the integration of internal applications, databases, and systems with external third-party solutions. This role emphasizes the importance of maintaining critical application data and continuously evaluating and communicating the application architecture to relevant stakeholders. The position requires a strong commitment to implementing best practices in the design, development, and deployment of integration methodologies using cloud-native platforms and technologies. The specialist will be responsible for developing and sustaining integrations within the Digital Integration Layer ecosystem. As a technical authority in application integrations, collaboration with Integration Architects is essential to design and develop integrations utilizing contemporary integration patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute integration solutions within the Digital Integration layer for both internal and cloud-based business applications, databases, and systems.
  • Investigate and resolve complex integration challenges to ensure smooth application and system integration.
  • Work in partnership with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Owners, DevOps Engineers, business leaders) to identify and create integration solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Develop integration workflows and APIs utilizing middleware technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Architecture community to manage or implement the organization's API strategy.
  • Configure and oversee middleware infrastructure to support application integrations, ensuring optimal availability and performance.
  • Provide technical assistance for integration-related challenges, including system outages and performance issues.
  • Document integration solutions, processes, and procedures to promote knowledge sharing and sustainability.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in application integrations and middleware development.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and systems, preferably in a cloud environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency in integration technologies, APIs, and web services.
  • Experience in enterprise-level integrations, data mapping, and transformation.
  • Experience in the design, development, and deployment of enterprise architecture (ideally, both on-premises and cloud).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in domain-driven design within a distributed service environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Familiarity with integration tools such as Talend, Boomi, MQ, WebSphere, OSB, Databases, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory/Synapse.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technologies & Platforms, including infrastructure automation using Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of Web Services, APIs, Microservices, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Knowledge of Application and Data Architecture as it pertains to Integration.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
