Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment and Tooling Optimization: Minimize equipment and tooling downtime or waste through analytical techniques.
  • Control System Development: Design, specify, program, simulate, test, and assist in the start-up of control systems.
  • Efficiency Enhancement: Boost operational efficiencies through process modifications and automation.
  • Automation Programming: Program automated machinery to fulfill production needs.
  • Electronic Control Solutions: Design and provide quotations for electronic control systems to support production activities.
  • Control Device Sourcing: Gather quotes and recommend suppliers for control devices.
  • Maintenance of Process Controls: Oversee and maintain process control systems.
  • Improvements in Plant and Processes: Innovate and design enhancements in layout, equipment, processes, and ergonomics.
  • Identification of Process Controls: Recognize essential process controls and systems, providing resources for their upkeep.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintenance Guidance: Provide advice to maintenance personnel.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of all activities as required.
  • Emergency Protocols: Follow company procedures for emergency evacuations to ensure employee safety.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Authority Limits
  • Risk Management: Inform the Department Manager of potential significant risks.
  • Nonconformance Prevention: Initiate measures to avert nonconformance related to products, processes, and systems.
  • Problem Recognition: Identify and document issues related to products, processes, or systems.
  • Solution Recommendation: Propose solutions through appropriate channels and ensure their implementation.
  • Control of Nonconforming Products: Manage the processing and delivery of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.
  • Project RFQ Initiation: Start project RFQs with necessary documentation for approval.
  • Vendor Negotiation: Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing and timelines with suppliers for equipment and tooling.
  • Layout Endorsement: Approve facility layouts as necessary.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • PLC Programming Expertise: Demonstrated experience in PLC logic and programming with various PLC brands.
  • HMI/SCADA Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with software tools for HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Educational Background: At least a 2-year college degree and 1 year of relevant experience in controls and assembly operations, or a comparable combination.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Proficiency: Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in advanced computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Panel Design and Blueprint Interpretation: Experience in panel design, layout, wiring schematics, and reading blueprints.
  • Experience with Conveyor Systems: Familiarity with conveyor systems and barcode technology.
  • Field Commissioning Experience: Experience in field commissioning.
  • Industrial Control Knowledge: Understanding of industrial control systems.
  • Software Knowledge: Proficient in software such as RS View and Auto-CAD.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Internal Training Requirements
  • Safety and Orientation Training: Including hazardous communication.
  • Departmental Training: Training on process engineering changes and program development.
  • Company Training: Overview of company policies and procedures.

  • Work Environment: Typical office and plant environment with standard mobility requirements.
  • Risks: No specific risks associated with this job function.

Travel Requirements
  • Travel: Approximately 20% travel expected.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license is necessary.
