Senior Systems Administrator

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing IT support services across various tiers, ensuring that highly dependable and secure services are accessible to all users. This role may also involve formulating plans and policy suggestions to guarantee that system operations, maintenance, and security align with best practices and adhere to regulatory standards. The administrator will supervise daily mission activities and offer ongoing feedback to the Program Manager and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in regular meetings, delivering updates on program progress and client satisfaction to leadership.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Program Manager and fulfill internal deliverables as required.
  • Assist the Program Manager by effectively tracking, developing, and providing program deliverables.
  • Act as the primary contact for quality assurance related to contract activities and ISO standards.
  • Configure desktop and notebook PC hardware to deliver baseline support.
  • Provide Vulnerability Management Services for a significant number of Windows operating systems.
  • Utilize provided SCCM reports for system management.
  • Collaborate with SCCM personnel to verify patch availability.
  • Repair SCCM and WMI clients as necessary to ensure proper patch installation.
  • Generate and manage POAMs as needed and track their resolution.
  • Install and configure Operating Systems and associated applications for networked computers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues related to desktops and laptops.
  • Establish user profiles, including email setup and printer/network drive mapping.
  • Install and configure OS and baseline applications for server hardware.
  • Provide access support, create new user accounts, assist with initial logins, and manage password changes.
  • Schedule and execute software and hardware upgrades, patches, and configurations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Configure and maintain authorized copiers, printers, scanners, and multifunction devices.
  • Oversee the organizational Video Teleconference (VTC) studio.
  • Ensure that helpdesk personnel are trained and actively contributing.
  • Manage weekend or holiday work to ensure appropriate charge codes and time off.
  • Participate in onboarding processes for new customers.
  • Assist with IT equipment logistics, including inventory management and setup for devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in system administration or equivalent experience (4+ years) in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of technical experience in helpdesk operations or administration.
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 (minimum Security+ certification).
  • Proficiency in Computing Environment (CE): Microsoft Azure, Red Hat Linux, Server 2012/2012R2, Server 2016, or Server 2019.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance is mandatory.

  • Strong leadership and self-management abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze systems critically and convey requirements to stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Eligibility for government security clearance for classified information access.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and VISIO.
