Senior Systems Administrator

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing comprehensive IT support services across various tiers, ensuring that highly dependable and secure services are accessible to all users. This role may also involve offering strategic recommendations for plans and policies to guarantee that system operations, maintenance, and security align with best practices and comply with regulatory standards. The administrator will manage daily mission activities and provide ongoing updates to the Program Manager and government representatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend regular meetings to provide updates on program progress and user satisfaction to leadership.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Program Manager and fulfill internal deliverables as required.
  • Assist the Program Manager by tracking, developing, and delivering program outputs in a timely manner.
  • Act as the primary contact for quality assurance in contract activities and ISO compliance.
  • Configure desktop and notebook PC hardware to deliver baseline support.
  • Manage Vulnerability Management Services for a significant number of Windows operating systems.
  • Utilize provided reports to assess patch status and coordinate with personnel to ensure effective patch management.
  • Troubleshoot and repair client software as necessary to facilitate patch installations.
  • Generate and track Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) as needed until resolution.
  • Install and configure operating systems and essential applications for networked devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues for desktops and laptops.
  • Create user profiles, including email setup and printer/network drive mapping.
  • Set up and configure operating systems and applications for server hardware.
  • Provide access support, create new user accounts, assist with initial logins, and manage password changes or account unlocks.
  • Schedule and execute software and hardware upgrades, patches, and configurations according to established timelines.
  • Configure and maintain organizational video conferencing systems.
  • Ensure training and contributions from other helpdesk staff.
  • Oversee weekend or holiday work to ensure proper charge codes and time off for employees.
  • Manage new customer onboarding and equipment return processes.
  • Assist with IT equipment logistics, including inventory management and setup for devices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in system administration or equivalent experience (4+ years) in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of technical experience in helpdesk operations or administration.
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 standards (Security+ minimum).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Red Hat Linux, and various Windows Server versions preferred.
  • Required Top Secret/SCI clearance.

  • Eligibility for government security clearance for classified information access.
