Guest Services Representative

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Guest Services Agent to join our team at the National Museum of African American Music. As a Guest Services Agent, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest experiences, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit for all museum patrons.
Key Responsibilities- Guest Services: Greet and orient visitors to the museum, programs, and events, providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Admissions and Sales: Process admissions and fees for programs, memberships, and events, and assist guests with RFID bracelet activation and member services.
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle all tenders and balance cash at the end of each shift.
- Information and Direction: Outline museum activities, provide orientation information about the galleries, and offer directional services to guests.
- Communication: Answer the museum's central telephone lines promptly, answer inquiries courteously, and direct callers to appropriate staff offices and individuals as needed.
- Security and Safety: Observe individuals entering the museum entrance and report any irregularities to facilities.
- Membership Sales: Actively promote and sell annual memberships to patrons visiting the museum, answering questions and providing detailed descriptions of benefits.
- Parking and Facilities: Assist visitors to obtain parking and ensure they park in designated spots.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency needs by monitoring the status of facilities and taking steps to reduce or eliminate personal risk to visitors.
- Clerical Duties: Assist with clerical duties, which may be performed at the front desk for other museum departments, as assigned by the Guest Services Manager.
- Gift Shop Operations: Assist in the operation of the museum gift shop, as needed.
- Education: High school graduation preferred.
- Experience: 1 or more years of front-line hospitality industry experience in a customer service role.
- Skills: Exceptional customer service skills, outgoing personality, and ability to interact with guests and colleagues. High degree of tact and diplomacy in dealing with member and guest issues. Ability to assess visitor concerns and follow through to resolution with tact and attention to detail.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk, stand, and interact with the public for long periods of time.
