Position Overview:

The role of the Lead Assembly Technician serves as the primary authority on all assembly operations, necessitating a high level of skill and knowledge in power generation assembly tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize extensive experience to construct both established and innovative assembly projects.
  • Analyze designs to detect potential wiring and mechanical inconsistencies, collaborating with engineering teams to devise effective solutions.
  • Guide and mentor junior technicians, fostering skill development and teamwork to meet project goals.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Preferred educational background includes a High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in manufacturing, field service, or construction within the energy sector or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in reading measurement tools with precision to the 1/16th of an inch.
  • Skilled in the use of basic hand tools and possesses strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Electrical experience is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of torque specifications and their application to various components.
  • Familiarity with electrical wire and cable routing, along with knowledge of standard wiring practices to ensure quality.
  • Ability to interpret and execute electrical schematics, drawings, and engineering sketches.
  • Experience in wiring diverse equipment, including but not limited to Power Equipment Centers and Power Generation systems.
  • Capable of collaborating across departments, including engineering and planning.

Job Duties:

The primary focus of this position is the assembly of Power Generation systems, encompassing the installation of mechanical components and the finalization of electrical wiring. The technician will reference engineering documentation to facilitate the assembly of both mechanical and electrical systems.

Specific Tasks Include:

  • Assembling intricate electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies in accordance with schematics, bills of materials, and established procedures.
  • Consulting engineering documents to guide the assembly of mechanical parts and the wiring of control systems.
  • Reading and comprehending electrical diagrams for both house power and communication wiring, ensuring proper labeling and connections.
  • Mounting generators on their respective skids using appropriate hardware while adhering to torque specifications.
  • Installing exhaust components with the correct hardware and gaskets, ensuring compliance with torque requirements.
  • Fabricating load cables with the correct gauge and connectors, ensuring proper crimping techniques.
  • Installing various components, including conduits and complex systems, while utilizing hand and power tools effectively.
  • Engaging in troubleshooting activities, which may involve drilling, tapping, and mounting control units.
  • Assisting in the training and integration of new team members.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs and enhancing assembly quality.
  • Independently verifying the accuracy and completeness of work as per specifications.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates physical activities such as standing, bending, and lifting items up to 50 pounds. The work environment may vary between conditioned and non-conditioned spaces.
