The Lead Assembly Technician will leverage their extensive experience and technical know-how to execute both standard and unique assembly projects. This includes reviewing designs to pinpoint potential wiring and mechanical issues, collaborating with engineering teams to devise effective solutions. Additionally, this position involves mentoring junior technicians and guiding small teams towards achieving project goals.
Essential Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred; relevant education combined with work experience will be taken into account.
- At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, field service, or construction within the energy sector or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to accurately read measuring instruments to the nearest 1/16th of an inch.
- Proficiency in using basic hand tools is required.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities are essential.
- Experience in electrical work is highly desirable.
- Understanding of torque specifications and their relevance to components.
- Skills in electrical wire and cable routing, along with knowledge of standard wiring practices for quality assurance.
- Capability to interpret and execute electrical schematics, drawings, and engineering sketches.
- Experience in wiring various types of equipment, including but not limited to: Power Equipment Center (PEC), Tie Containers, and Power Generation systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, planning, and other key departments.
- The primary responsibility of this position is to assemble Power Generation systems, from mechanical component installation to final electrical wiring.
- Assemble intricate electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies following detailed drawings, bills of materials, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
- Utilize engineering documents and schematics to guide the assembly of mechanical components and the wiring of control systems.
- Read and comprehend electrical drawings for both house power and communication wiring, ensuring proper labeling and landing of wires in designated panels.
- Securely mount Gensets on their skids using appropriate hardware while adhering to torque specifications.
- Install all necessary components onto the skid (ECC, GBC, SCR, disconnect) and ensure proper placement.
- Connect exhaust components using the correct hardware and gaskets, ensuring compliance with torque requirements.
- Fabricate load cables using the correct gauge wire, lugs, and proper crimping techniques.
- Construct CAN harnesses, fuel lines, and block heater hoses as needed.
- Install load cables, bend and install conduit, and assemble complex DEF systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency with crimping tools, stripping tools, multimeters, and hand tools such as wrenches and torque wrenches.
- Coordinate daily tasks with team members to align priorities for efficient assembly operations.
- Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills, which may involve drilling, tapping holes, and mounting control units to ensure proper fit and function.
- Assist in the training and integration of new associates, providing on-the-job guidance.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs and enhancing assembly quality.
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of work according to provided instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Interpret interconnect drawings across multiple products.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
- This position requires standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Work will be conducted in a general manufacturing environment, which may include both conditioned and non-conditioned spaces.
