Position Overview:
The primary responsibilities of the Assembly Technician I involve constructing, wiring, and assembling generator sets in accordance with engineering specifications and directives from the assembly supervisor.
Essential Qualifications:
(Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be taken into account.
- Previous assembly-related experience is required, which may include field service, maintenance of heavy machinery, power generation equipment, mechanical work, or general construction.
- Ability to read measuring instruments to the nearest 1/16th of an inch is necessary.
- Proficiency in using basic hand tools is essential.
- Electrical experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble intricate electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies following blueprints, bills of materials, schematics, and/or established procedures.
- Utilize engineering documents and schematics to assist in the assembly of mechanical components and the wiring of controls and power systems.
- Interpret electrical diagrams for both power and communication wiring, ensuring proper installation and labeling in both TCC/ECC and power panels.
- Securely mount generator sets onto their skids using appropriate hardware while adhering to torque specifications.
- Attach all necessary stands to the skid (ECC, GBC, SCR, disconnect) and position these components accurately.
- Connect exhaust components using the correct hardware and gaskets, ensuring all torque requirements are met.
- Fabricate load cables using the correct gauge wire, lugs, and proper crimping techniques.
- Create CAN harnesses, fuel lines, and block heater hoses as required.
- Install all phases of load cables, bend and install conduit, and assemble complex DEF pumps, solenoids, and systems.
- Demonstrate skills in electrical wire and cable routing, understanding standard wiring practices related to quality.
- Effectively use crimping tools, stripping tools, multimeters, and hand tools such as wrenches and torque wrenches.
- Collaborate with team members to align daily tasks and ensure smooth assembly operations.
- Possess troubleshooting skills; may need to drill and tap holes, crimp, screw, bolt, rivet, mount control units, and create openings for elements, wiring, and instruments using hand and power tools to ensure proper fit and function.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed based on business requirements.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This role necessitates standing, stooping, bending, and occasionally lifting items up to 50lbs. Manual dexterity is required to handle tools and small machine parts.
The work environment is typically a general manufacturing setting, which may include areas that are not climate-controlled.
