Position Summary

The Pre-Construction Project Manager will report directly to the Manager of Pre-Construction and will play a pivotal role in overseeing the preparatory phases of new utility-scale renewable energy projects. This position will primarily focus on solar initiatives within New York, ensuring that all aspects of project design, permitting, and contractor selection are meticulously managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate pre-construction activities for solar projects in New York, from initial development through to the selection of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors.
  • Manage early-stage site assessments, including ALTA and topographic surveys, and engage with consultants to ensure projects are technically and physically prepared for execution.
  • Develop and present project status reports, facilitating discussions on various layout and contractor options.
  • Prepare and evaluate contractor RFPs, negotiate terms, and gather input from various stakeholders throughout the selection process.
  • Collaborate with team members to establish comprehensive project budgets, transitioning ownership to the execution team upon handover.
  • Contribute to the development of company standards and best practices for project execution.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, ensuring seamless coordination with engineers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support other departments as necessary, aligning with company objectives.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, construction, or project management within the renewable energy sector.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering is required; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with New York State regulations and permitting processes is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership and project management capabilities.

  • Capacity to prioritize and resolve complex project issues efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for project-related activities across the U.S. and Canada.

Work Environment

  • This role offers remote work flexibility for candidates on the East Coast, with regular site visits to ongoing projects in New York.
