Job Overview

The Construction Cost Analyst is accountable for the preparation of comprehensive project estimates.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Estimating Manager to assess potential business opportunities and determine the necessary team members to effectively complete the estimation process.
  • Ensuring that any required bid bonds are requested promptly, confirming that all scopes of work have adequate subcontractor support, and preparing all necessary documentation for proposal submission.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of all estimates prior to submission to guarantee that every scope of work is included and that all bid documents are present.
  • Formulating a scheduling strategy for each project in conjunction with the respective Project Manager.
  • Supervising the creation of a proposal schedule for each estimate, if necessary.
  • Assisting in the estimation of change orders as required.
  • Facilitating coordination among Cost/Estimating Management, Schedule Management, and Project Management Teams.
  • Taking ownership of the project from the decision to pursue through to contract award.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Prior experience in construction management.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills with customers and stakeholders.

Note: Customers and stakeholders include Owners, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Public Officials, and any other entities associated with the project.

  • A proven track record of successful project management, focusing on Cost, Customer Service, Quality, Safety, and Schedule.
  • A willingness to work as required by the position.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, OnScreen Takeoff, SmartBid, or other bid management software.

Expectations for this role include:

  • Managing estimates totaling several million dollars annually.
  • Dependability in adhering to attendance guidelines and managing schedules for assigned personnel.
  • Active participation in the analysis, implementation, and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
  • Proactively seeking increased responsibilities and volunteering for additional assignments as needed.
  • Effectively balancing time and costs in the execution of responsibilities.
  • Continuously enhancing job knowledge and demonstrating the ability to learn and apply new skills.
  • Making timely, informed decisions while keeping relevant parties updated throughout the decision-making process.
  • Identifying problems and skillfully gathering and analyzing information, consulting with affected entities.
  • Regularly reviewing project progress to ensure requirements are met and addressing issues early in the project lifecycle.
  • Organizing and prioritizing work activities while utilizing effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Employing strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of employees, management, and external partners.
  • Educating staff on company policies and procedures, clarifying employee requirements and the rationale behind policies.
  • Achieving established goals while ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in work quality.

You should be physically capable of:

  • Operating standard business equipment such as computers and telephones.
  • Working extended hours and adapting to rapidly changing priorities to meet project objectives.
  • Participating in meetings and discussions.
  • Traveling on short notice as necessary.
