Job Overview

The role of the Estimator is crucial in formulating project cost assessments.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Estimating Manager to evaluate potential business ventures and determine the required personnel for effective estimate completion.
  • Ensuring timely requests for any necessary bid bonds, securing appropriate subcontractor support for all scopes of work, and preparing essential documentation for proposal submission.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of all estimates before submission to confirm that every scope of work is included and that all bid documents are attached.
  • Creating a scheduling framework for each project in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Supervising the development of a proposal timeline for each estimate, if necessary.
  • Assisting in the estimation of change orders as required.
  • Facilitating coordination among Cost/Estimating Management, Schedule Management, and Project Management Teams.
  • Taking ownership of the project from the decision to pursue through to contract award.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Prior experience in construction management.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills with customers and stakeholders.

Note: Customers and stakeholders include Owners, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Public Officials, and any other entities involved in the project.

  • A proven track record of successful project outcomes, focusing on Cost, Customer Service, Quality, Safety, and Schedule.
  • A willingness to work as required by the job.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, OnScreen Takeoff, SmartBid, or other bid management tools.

  • Demonstrating initiative in expanding job knowledge and acquiring new skills.
  • Making timely and sound decisions while keeping relevant parties informed.
  • Identifying issues, gathering, and analyzing information effectively, consulting with affected entities.
  • Regularly reviewing project progress to ensure requirements are met and identifying issues early in the project lifecycle.
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks while utilizing efficient time management to meet deadlines.
  • Utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees, management, and external partners.
  • Educating staff on company policies and procedures, clarifying employee requirements and the rationale behind policies.
  • Achieving established goals while ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in work quality.

The role requires physical capabilities to:

  • Operate standard business equipment such as computers and telephones.
  • Work extended hours and adapt to rapidly changing priorities to meet project objectives.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions.
  • Travel on short notice as needed.
