Position Summary:
The Environmental Compliance Engineer will play a crucial role in navigating the complex landscape of emissions regulations for internal combustion engines, electric vehicles, and heavy-duty engines. This position involves meticulous data analysis and the preparation of compliance applications for regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and submit emissions compliance applications using electronic filing systems.
  • Provide regulatory targets and guidance to powertrain development teams through comprehensive research.
  • Assess the applicability of EPA and CARB regulations to upcoming vehicle and engine projects.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes and emerging trends in emissions legislation.
  • Analyze emissions test data to ensure compliance with EPA and CARB standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports for clients and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
To be considered for the Environmental Compliance Engineer role, candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in emissions certification processes.
  • Familiarity with engine and vehicle testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of emissions control technologies and On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) systems.
  • Expertise in EPA and CARB regulations and their electronic application systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional qualifications that may enhance a candidate's profile include:
  • A degree in a related engineering field.
  • Experience with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and California Code of Regulations (CCR).
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
