We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer II. If you excel in your field, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about creating advanced hardware for aerospace systems, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
In this role, you will oversee the mechanical design of our products throughout all stages of the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in electronics packaging design, mechanical simulations, computer-aided design (CAD), spacecraft mechanical interfaces, and environmental qualification of electronic assemblies. As a senior member of the mechanical team, you will manage mechanical designs from initial concept through requirements definition, detailed design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thermal management design and precision machining.
- Perform thermal simulation and analysis, shock and vibration simulation, and electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) mitigation.
- Utilize geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and finite element analysis (FEA) for design validation.
- Engage in cost analysis to enhance mechanical designs.
The successful candidate will also present engineering design review materials to stakeholders and participate in proposal-writing efforts, necessitating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 6 years of industry experience in design and analysis of electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics.
- Progressive experience in aerospace industry design, development, and qualification.
- High-level proficiency with electronics assemblies and collaboration with electrical engineers.
- Experience with FEA CAD tools, such as Solidworks Simulation.
- Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
