Job Summary:
As a Principal Product Engineer on the Product Team, you will play a pivotal role at Millennium Space Systems, combining deep technical expertise with broad influence. You will serve as a mentor and role model, promoting a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring excellence in the products you oversee. This role merges electrical engineering with project management responsibilities, holding accountability for avionics hardware products across integrated product teams that encompass electronics, software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and other fields. A successful Principal Product Engineer will lead the development cycles of both new and existing products, simplifying processes and enhancing manufacturability while ensuring designs reach the necessary technical readiness levels. Your extensive technical knowledge will enable you to advocate for the success of avionics hardware products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for avionics hardware products
- Lead cross-functional integrated product teams
- Oversee technical development, budget, and schedule for products
- Serve as the technical liaison for programs and systems engineers
- Communicate effectively and advocate for product success
- Streamline design cycle times
- Facilitate rapid design iterations within integrated product teams
- Identify and track key performance indicators
- Enhance the on-time delivery rate of products
- Provide production expertise for avionics products
- Improve first-pass yield of products
- Minimize the lifetime of discrepancy reports
- Lead design for manufacturing initiatives for PCB/PCBA electro-mechanical avionics systems
- Oversee acceptance and qualification programs ensuring product quality and design margins
- Mentor junior Product Engineers
- Offer technical guidance to peers in project management, development, and manufacturing
- Ensure teams receive the necessary technical and managerial support for product development
- Promote a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous learning
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Over 10 years of experience in developing and manufacturing electromechanical assemblies
- In-depth knowledge of PCB/PCBA development, manufacturing, and testing
- Proficiency in Altium Designer or similar electrical design software
- Strong project management capabilities
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Ability to lead through influence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance
- Experience in schematic design and PCB layout in areas such as Analog mixed-signal, power conversion, computing, or communications
- Previous experience leading integrated product teams for space-qualified hardware
