Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will oversee the mechanical design aspects of our products throughout the entire development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in:
- Electronics packaging design
- Mechanical simulations and analyses
- Computer-aided design (CAD)
- Spacecraft mechanical interfaces
- Environmental qualification of electronic assemblies
As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, you will be accountable for the mechanical designs from initial concept through requirements definition, detailed design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and support of our products in operational environments.
Essential Skills and Experience: Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in:
- Thermal management design
- Precision machining principles
- Thermal simulation and analysis
- Shock and vibration simulation and analysis
- Electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) mitigation techniques
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Finite element analysis (FEA)
- Cost analysis for mechanical design optimization
The successful candidate may also be required to present engineering design review materials to stakeholders and participate in proposal development efforts. Therefore, strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 6 years of industry experience in the design and analysis of electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics.
- Progressive experience in aerospace industry design, development, and qualification.
- High-level proficiency with electronics assemblies and collaboration with electrical engineers.
- Experience with FEA CAD tools, such as Solidworks Simulation.
- Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
