Lead Propulsion Systems Engineer

Position Overview: As a Lead Propulsion Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the Stage Systems team, which is tasked with the requirements, analysis, and operation of the vehicle-level systems. Your expertise will ensure that all subsystems integrate seamlessly to form a cohesive vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:- Take full ownership of complex, integrated systems by understanding configurations and requirements, conducting inspections, analyzing performance, and reviewing test data.
- Define system requirements, architecture, and roadmaps for upcoming missions.
- Develop control sequences, abort protocols, alarms, and launch commit criteria.
- Collaborate with launch and test engineers to align objectives, sequences, and test parameters.
- Engage in vehicle-level operations as the responsible engineer or support in mission control.
- Identify, track, and mitigate system-level risks.
- Interpret and refine fluid schematics based on operational needs.
- Conduct fluid component sizing and analysis through calculations and custom scripts.
- Lead the development of test plans for vehicle fluid systems, overseeing the planning, documentation, and execution of test campaigns.
- Create and present technical documentation that clearly communicates analysis or test results and recommendations.
- Manage project milestones and priorities effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers within the team.
- Travel to remote sites to support operational objectives as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in aerospace, defense, chemical, or similar environments, with hands-on experience in developing or operating complex fluid and mechanical systems.
- Experience with high-pressure or cryogenic fluid systems and their design considerations.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, including compressible and incompressible flow.
- Proficient in interpreting and defining Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Experience in authoring technical documentation, including interface control documents and test plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to define requirements and implement solutions.
- Familiarity with data processing tools and fluid analysis software.
- Experience in hazardous operations as a test director or responsible engineer.
- Hands-on experience in developing and activating complex systems from inception.
- Familiarity with CAD/PLM systems.
