Position Overview

Summary:

The Ladders and its associated financial institutions depend on skilled commercial banking experts to assist clients in achieving their objectives, contribute positively to economic growth in our communities, and fulfill our expansion goals. The Senior Commercial Loan Officer's main responsibility will be to cultivate and enhance commercial lending partnerships in the Northwest Arkansas area, including providing banking solutions such as deposit services and treasury management to support a relationship-driven strategy. In addition to delivering exceptional client service, a successful Senior Commercial Loan Officer possesses the capability to thoroughly evaluate, analyze, structure, assess risk, negotiate, and document new loans while formulating comprehensive relationship strategies to attract new business to the institution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops a fully self-sourced portfolio of commercial loans in the Northwest Arkansas area. Annual origination targets, ideal lending relationship sizes, and overall portfolio dimensions will vary and be communicated to each loan officer based on their expertise and assignments.
  • Manages outreach initiatives and pipeline tracking utilizing Salesforce while safeguarding client data as proprietary information.
  • Ensures that all aspects of clients' banking needs are addressed by connecting them with our specialists in private banking, treasury management, deposit services, and other relevant banking products.
  • Cultivates client relationships in a manner that fosters loyalty to the institution, extending beyond individual team members by facilitating introductions to a broad team of professionals, including ownership and senior management.
  • Solicits, evaluates, structures, assesses risk, presents for approval, and negotiates commercial loan applications.
  • Excels in delegating tasks and collaborating with other professionals—portfolio managers, credit analysts, closing teams, document preparation, loan operations, legal, and loan review—to maintain a portfolio, efficiently close loans, deliver outstanding client service, and mentor other associates within the commercial banking and credit sectors.
  • Focuses on continuous enhancements to the cost of closing and maintaining the portfolio by prioritizing sales and production while leveraging the expertise of other professionals for additional responsibilities.
  • Mentors less experienced commercial banking associates through task delegation, oversight of their work, and client introductions.
  • Ensures a safe working environment that upholds a positive institutional image, including regular inspections for and remediation of hazardous conditions; consistent maintenance and cleanliness of premises; compliance with all posting requirements in the jurisdiction, including human resources and compliance postings; and provision of suitable and comfortable spaces for associates to conduct banking operations.

  • Maintains client information with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Completes other assigned duties as necessary.
  • Regular attendance is required, working at the designated worksite or assigned remote location during standard business hours and/or assigned hours.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration is required; an MBA or related graduate degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-based business development.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant commercial lending experience.
  • Strong credit analysis capabilities.
  • Proficient in standard computer/software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and video conferencing; experience with Salesforce and nCino or other CRM or loan origination systems is strongly preferred.
  • Must be goal-oriented, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and client-focused with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex data and structural components to diverse audiences and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be willing and able to adopt a team approach to client relationships and ensure all associates are delivering the highest value of their time and expertise.
  • A growth mindset with enthusiasm for expanding a new region.
Physical Requirements:

The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. Reaching may be required, involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used, necessitating the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to interpret a computer screen or written documents is essential. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or convey detailed or important instructions is required. The ability to receive and comprehend detailed information shared through oral or written communication is necessary. The position may require occasional lifting and/or exerting up to ten pounds of force. If the associate is approved for any hybrid work locations, lifting of about 5 lbs. (laptop) is required twice daily. The role involves moving about the workspace to access entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. Frequent, sustained periods of sitting are expected, along with regular periods of standing or moving between worksites, including client locations, community events, and/or building sites. The position requires the ability to transport oneself between local worksites via automobile or public transportation regularly. Exposure to outdoor elements is possible. Depending on the specialty/geographic area assigned, the position may require occasional travel outside the local area, necessitating the ability to travel via airplane or other public transportation.
