Key Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications will oversee $2M in account revenue as the most senior, strategic client counsel. Key responsibilities include:

  • Consistently producing a coherent strategy for clients and projects
  • Working with top executives at leading technology companies as a trusted counselor and advisor
  • Driving a cornerstone in the agency (excellent careers, superb client service, strong financials, improved operations and tools)
  • Generating business revenue within existing clients by taking a broad view of the entire marketing and communications mix
  • Identifying and leading pitches to bring in new clients with growth goals tied to salary
  • Working with integrated teams to provide clients with seamless multi-channel solutions
  • Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing staff using a supportive and collaborative approach
  • Representing HighwirePR and key clients at high-level industry events
  • Servicing clients profitably while monitoring and advising on staff billability, client needs, resource load, and staff performance
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in communications, either in-house or with an agency, with at least 5 years in senior leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top-tier reporters and editors
  • Extensive successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print and online communications media
  • Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media coverage amplification
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program
  • Innovative thinking and a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
  • Experience in building, managing, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialists
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
  • Experience setting up measurement programs and measuring the ongoing ROI of communications activities
