Position: Senior Vice President of CoMET (Construction Materials Testing) Department

Location: Austin, TX

Reporting To: Vice President of Operations

Mission Statement

The Senior Vice President of the CoMET Department at HVJ Associates is tasked with enhancing the firm's operational effectiveness while adhering to the established corporate policies and guidelines. This leadership role demands an individual who exemplifies outstanding leadership qualities and embodies the core values of HVJ Associates. The incumbent will be responsible for nurturing client relationships, overseeing human resources, driving business development, and managing overall departmental operations. The SVP of CoMET will supervise the entire CoMET division, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of all projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the coordination of team assignments to fulfill client service requirements.
  • Collaborate with department heads to secure additional personnel and resources as necessary.
  • Assist in crafting project proposals and capability statements.
  • Contribute to the company’s strategic vision through business development and client engagement.
  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction and achieve financial performance targets for the CoMET department.
  • Monitor departmental expenses to guarantee that operations remain within budget.
  • Realize the company's vision by executing service line communication and development initiatives.
  • Project CoMET performance against annual goals and objectives.
  • Implement quality assurance protocols as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Communicate essential technical, administrative, and financial information to team members as needed.
  • Prepare and approve technical and cost proposals.
  • Develop an annual strategic plan for CoMET business growth.
  • Address conflicts and complaints in a fair and just manner.
  • Assess the performance of unit staff and recommend staffing changes as per company policy.
  • Administer disciplinary actions in accordance with the Employee Manual when necessary.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of direct experience in Geotechnical and Construction Materials Engineering, along with a Professional Engineer (PE) License. A combination of relevant work experience and education may be considered for exceptional candidates.
