Position Overview:

The Mortgage Loan Officer plays a crucial role in cultivating and nurturing partnerships with real estate agents, builders, and various affinity partners. This position is essential in fulfilling our mission to create a better financial future for our clients by understanding their unique needs and guiding them towards securing suitable mortgage loans that align with their financial situations and homeownership aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of First Federal Bank.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and other partners to enhance and retain business opportunities.
  • Cross-promote all First Federal Bank products and services, including retail banking offerings.
  • Oversee customer interactions throughout the loan process, from application to closing, ensuring comprehensive support, including credit counseling and pre-qualification for potential home buyers.
  • Originate mortgage loan applications in alignment with the Bank's objectives and meet agreed-upon loan origination targets.
  • Maintain knowledge of affordable housing products and programs to assist borrowers in accessing suitable housing options.
  • Screen and gather necessary documentation for loan applications, ensuring thorough submission for review and processing.
  • Generate leads for business development and loan solicitation.
  • Collect and analyze financial and personal information from borrowers to facilitate informed underwriting decisions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and maintaining clear communication throughout the loan process.
  • Report on business activities and complete required documentation.
  • Engage in community organizations to enhance public awareness of First Federal Bank and its services.
  • Adhere to all relevant banking laws and regulations, including anti-money laundering statutes and consumer protection legislation.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful experience in home mortgage origination, including application processing and follow-through.
  • Familiarity with current FNMA/FHLMC/GNMA underwriting guidelines is essential.
  • Prior experience in business development is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong language skills, including the ability to read and interpret business documents and regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence.
  • Effective presentation skills for engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Mathematical skills for calculating financial figures and applying relevant concepts.
  • Reasoning ability to address complex problems and follow instructions accurately.

Certificates:

NMLS Registration is required.
