The Senior Commercial Banker is responsible for the acquisition, development, and retention of intricate commercial relationships while effectively cross-selling the Bank's diverse offerings through a well-structured client-centric business development strategy. This role will focus primarily on Commercial and Industrial (C&I) relationships. Success in this position is measured by new loan and deposit growth, fee income generation, referrals to other business lines, and proficient portfolio management, including asset quality oversight. The Senior Commercial Banker typically operates in metropolitan areas with populations exceeding 500,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically engage with large, complex commercial clients, acting as a trusted advisor to identify opportunities and mitigate risks while assisting them in achieving their objectives through the Bank's products and services.
  • Establish and negotiate terms for commercial credit, including cost, risk assessment, and profitability, while determining methods, schedules, and collateral requirements.
  • Analyze intricate financial data to assess a borrower's creditworthiness, presenting well-informed recommendations to the loan committee.
  • Oversee the profitability of all commercial relationships within the assigned portfolio.
  • Manage the portfolio effectively, which may involve monitoring borrowing bases and construction draw processes.
  • Track loan repayment activities, address past due accounts, and manage credit and collateral deficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to loan policies and procedures, maintaining comprehensive documentation for satisfactory internal and external audits.
  • Proactively cross-sell additional bank products, including commercial offerings, treasury management, employee benefits, and wealth management services to foster strong banking relationships.
  • Engage with the community through participation in business organizations, community events, and non-profit initiatives to enhance the Bank's reputation.
  • Achieve individual performance goals while contributing to a collaborative team environment to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to this role, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of six years of experience in a commercial banking role, with significant expertise in complex lending and proficiency in C&I credit.
  • Demonstrated sales skills are required.
  • Familiarity with the local market is essential for understanding the lending landscape and potential customer base.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with lending software is required.
Certifications
  • NMLS certification is required.
