The Senior Commercial Banker plays a pivotal role in acquiring, nurturing, and maintaining intricate commercial relationships while effectively cross-selling the Bank's diverse range of services through a well-structured client development strategy. This position primarily focuses on Commercial and Industrial (C&I) relationships. Success in this role is measured by net new loan and deposit growth, fee income generation, referrals to other business lines, and comprehensive portfolio management, including asset quality oversight. Officers in this role are expected to manage a portfolio exceeding $50 million. Senior Commercial Bankers typically operate in metropolitan areas with populations over 500,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically engage with large, complex commercial clients through relationship-based selling, acting as a trusted advisor to help them identify opportunities and mitigate risks while achieving their financial objectives with the Bank's offerings.
  • Establish and negotiate terms for commercial credit, including cost, risk assessment, and profitability, while determining methods, schedules, and collateral requirements.
  • Analyze intricate financial data to assess a borrower's creditworthiness, presenting well-informed recommendations to the loan committee with a thorough understanding of the credits involved.
  • Oversee the profitability of all commercial relationships within the assigned portfolio.
  • Manage portfolio activities, which may include overseeing borrowing base and construction draw processes.
  • Monitor loan repayment, manage collections of overdue accounts, and address credit and collateral deficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to loan policies and procedures, maintaining comprehensive documentation to facilitate satisfactory reviews from both internal and external audits.
  • Actively promote other bank products, including all commercial offerings, treasury management, employee benefits, and wealth management services to cultivate robust banking relationships.
  • Engage with the community through participation in business organizations, community events, and non-profit initiatives to enhance the Bank's reputation.
  • Achieve individual goals while contributing to a collaborative team environment, ensuring departmental and organizational objectives are met. Set and accomplish challenging goals independently while fostering a positive team spirit.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in a commercial banking role, with significant exposure to complex lending and proficiency in C&I credit.
  • Demonstrated sales acumen is required.
  • Familiarity with the local market is essential for understanding the lending landscape and potential customer base.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with lending software is necessary.
Certifications
  • NMLS certification is required.
