The Department of Veterans Affairs is currently in search of a Board Eligible/Board Certified Psychiatrist to join our Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program (SARRTP) and Outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clinic.

This role involves performing comprehensive evaluations for psychiatric disorders, substance use issues, alcohol dependency, social challenges, and any related medical conditions within both residential and outpatient environments.

The selected candidate will implement various treatment approaches, including psychotropic medications, individual counseling, and group therapy sessions. The focus of treatment is to deliver a comprehensive range of clinically appropriate interventions and rehabilitation services for individuals struggling with SUD, which encompasses ambulatory withdrawal management and addressing the psychological and behavioral dimensions of addiction through evidence-based pharmacotherapy and psychosocial strategies.


KEY DETAILS:

Work Schedule:
Primarily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

There may be a future requirement for evening or weekend clinics, but a consistent 40-hour work week will be maintained.

On-Call Duties:
Telephone consultations on weekdays and in-person coverage on weekends, with a frequency of 1-in-12.

Department Composition:
The department consists of approximately 12 psychiatrists, 18 psychologists, 30 social workers, 2 advanced practice nurses, 2 licensed marriage and family therapists, 2 licensed professional counselors, and 15 registered nurses.

Continuing Medical Education:
$1,000 annual stipend for reimbursement, along with one week of paid authorized absence (subject to availability).

Office Setup:
Private office space provided.

Workload:
The role involves two-thirds residential rehabilitation within a 28-bed unit and one-third outpatient SUD clinic responsibilities, along with administrative and teaching duties.
