The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and safety of our various properties, including residential units, shelters, and administrative offices. This position requires a diverse skill set in maintenance tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, flooring, painting, and electrical work. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a practical approach to problem-solving and a commitment to safety standards.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time role, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Standard workdays are typically Monday through Friday, but flexibility is necessary as hours may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. On-call availability for after-hours emergencies is also required on a rotating basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of buildings, electrical systems, and grounds to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met.
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting, including replacing light bulbs and fuses.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC systems.
  • Maintain a detailed maintenance log and oversee work orders assigned to other staff.
  • Complete maintenance tasks promptly as assigned.
  • Identify and address plumbing issues, including clearing clogged drains.
  • Support carpentry repairs as needed.
  • Utilize various tools and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Handle locksmith duties, including installation and repair of locks.
  • Ensure doors and windows are functioning properly.
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Transport materials and supplies to various job sites.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to plan and direct maintenance operations.
  • Help prioritize departmental tasks and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to the development of an efficient work order system.
  • Participate in pest control management.
  • Respond to after-hours maintenance calls as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
  • Accompany case managers on inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Conduct compliance inspections as necessary.
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment while performing duties.
  • Adjust work hours as necessary and be available for overtime.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, clients, and the public.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and safety regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is $22.00.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • CPR/First Aid/BBP Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in maintenance.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and reporting tools.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to:

  • Move around various buildings and perform tasks at different heights.
  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 35 pounds.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter moderate noise levels and varying weather conditions while performing their duties.
