Facility Maintenance Technician

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under direct supervision, the Facility Maintenance Technician performs tasks of moderate complexity across various skilled trades, including, but not limited to, machinery upkeep and repair, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, electrical work, and facility layout, both inside and outside of the various JELD-WEN production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine maintenance on machinery, mechanical systems, or the infrastructure of any JELD-WEN facility.
  • Replaces electrical components, fixtures, and motors as needed.
  • Repairs minor damage to walls and ceilings using appropriate materials and finishes.
  • Performs basic plumbing tasks, including the replacement and repair of sinks, toilets, and other fixtures.
  • Restores wood or concrete surfaces, including floors and sidewalks.
  • Installs new paneling, floor tiles, doors, locks, and replaces broken glass.
  • Utilizes welding and machining tools for repairs.
  • Installs, balances, and aligns both existing and new equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, notifying supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Gathers necessary information, interprets schematics, blueprints, work orders, and related documentation to perform the aforementioned tasks.
  • Collaborates with facility personnel to minimize breakdowns and ensure that the final product meets production standards and quality control objectives.
  • Assists higher-level maintenance personnel and management in achieving JELD-WEN's operational goals.
  • Ensures that machinery and equipment are kept in a clean, orderly, and functional state while adhering to safety regulations. This includes the use of safety gear such as glasses, ear protection, masks, and steel-toed footwear to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in machinery maintenance and repair, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, and facility layout.
  • Capable of identifying, reporting, and repairing defective machinery and equipment.
  • The entry-level technician is responsible for machine setup, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing preventive maintenance on production machinery.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Willingness to accept training and guidance from more experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with various levels of personnel in diverse situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.

Educational Background

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
