Veterinary Technician

Animal Cove Pet Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team in providing exceptional care to our furry patients.
We are a well-established, two-doctor small animal practice located in a vibrant suburban area. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory. We also offer alternative veterinary care modalities such as acupuncture, laser therapy, and Chinese medicine.
We prioritize a fear-free environment for our patients and staff, ensuring their well-being and safety. Our team is committed to providing high-quality medical care and building strong relationships with our clients.
Responsibilities:- Obtain vital signs and assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Prepare animals for and assist through surgical and dental procedures, including monitoring patients under anesthesia and providing post-operative care
- Perform daily laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, ear cytology, and urinalysis, and accurately record results
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels
- Process prescriptions and assist with inventory management of supplies, vaccines, and medications
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Previous experience working with animals; knowledge of animal body language
- Surgical and dental preparation and anesthesia monitoring skills
- Nursing care and treatment skills, including IV catheter placement, blood draw, blood pressure measurement, and medical calculations
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, pharmacology, and procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
