About the Role:
The Certification Product Team operates within the Network and Acquirer Solutions (NAS) division of Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS). This team plays a pivotal role in driving GMNS growth by developing, testing, and maintaining the essential tools that ensure our clients have a seamless experience when integrating with our payment solutions.

This position focuses on creating tools to assist over 100 Network partners and more than 400 Proprietary partners as they certify to utilize our extensive range of payment products, including EMV, Debit, Digital Wallets, and Mobile Point of Sale. The tools managed by the Certification Product Team are critical for both external clients and internal operational teams, ensuring smooth functionality as we adapt to evolving products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and drive a strategic vision and roadmap for Certification, leading a high-performing team.
  • Develop and mentor a team of skilled managers.
  • Formulate product vision, strategy, and roadmap for certification initiatives.
  • Analyze and map existing customer journeys across various platforms and products.
  • Set objectives and oversee outcomes for the team responsible for developing business requirements and managing existing tools and vendors.
  • Incorporate external customer needs, emerging technology trends, and competitive best practices into the product roadmap.
  • Create proposals for future product enhancements, including business cases that evaluate costs and benefits.
  • Support the development of tracking and reporting mechanisms to assess product performance.
  • Manage current certification product platforms and establish connections with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams to understand customer needs and identify opportunities for automation and product enhancements.
  • Engage with existing and potential vendors, overseeing integration and testing of new tools.
  • Participate in key industry working groups, representing American Express in discussions related to testing and certification.

Required Skills:
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, strategy, or product development.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing and inspiring stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in market research and competitive analysis within the automated certification solutions sector.
  • Familiarity with process mapping, UX design, and customer journey mapping.
  • Understanding of Agile project management methodologies is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in the payments industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or industry certifications are a plus.
