Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated full-time Research Scientist to join the esteemed lab of Dr. Jia-Ray Yu. This role is situated within a prominent biomedical research institute, focusing on the intricate mechanisms of epigenetic regulation in human malignancies. The lab employs a variety of advanced methodologies, including molecular biology, biochemistry, reconstituted systems, stem cell cultures, and genomic sequencing, to explore these critical areas of study.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will engage in several vital projects aimed at standardizing cell culture protocols and methodologies to delve into chromatin dynamics in stem cells and cancer. Responsibilities include:
- Training new lab personnel in essential techniques and methodologies.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all laboratory equipment and resources.
- Collaborating effectively with both internal team members and external partners.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field such as Biology or Biochemistry, with significant laboratory experience.
- Proven ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Experience in documenting protocols and maintaining laboratory inventories.
- Extensive knowledge in molecular biology and biochemistry.
