About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist – Staff Engineer to join our team at Jacobs. As a key member of our Acoustics Division, you will be responsible for conducting research and development of chemical systems for hydrogenation of CO2 to syngas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and evaluate chemical systems for hydrogenation of CO2 to syngas, including electrochemical, thermochemical, and plasma systems.
  • Develop and characterize stable catalyst materials capable of catalyzing CO2-derived intermediates to aromatics products.
  • Perform catalyst synthesis, analytical characterization of catalyst, and catalyst efficiency testing.
  • Direct air capture of CO2 and direct ocean capture of CO2.
  • Conduct computational modeling of catalyst environments to elucidate mechanistic pathways and guide experimental design.
  • Develop computational models that include fluid dynamics, transport of ionic species, and reaction intermediates to guide experimental design of electrochemical systems.
  • Design, fabricate, and evaluate systems, utilizing CAD programs and experience with scaling, integration, and automation of complex system components.
Requirements
  • PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biomechanical engineering, or material science.
  • 5-10 years of experience in research and development of chemical systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Secret Clearance or Interim Secret.
