Kansas City Missouri, United States Children's Mercy KC Full time

Thank you for considering a career with Children's Mercy:

Are you looking for a fulfilling position within a supportive and empathetic team? At Children's Mercy, we are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of children and providing hope to the families we serve.

Our team members are the heart of our organization, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a leading pediatric hospital for eleven consecutive years.

Located in the vibrant Kansas City area, our hospital is surrounded by rich cultural experiences, dynamic communities, and flourishing businesses.

This is where our patients and families thrive, and we are committed to giving back to the community that supports us.

As a pioneer in children's healthcare, we engage in significant programs and collaborations throughout the region to enhance the lives of children beyond our hospital's walls.

Position Overview:

The role involves providing comprehensive administrative assistance to the department, which includes drafting and typing standard correspondence and reports, executing administrative projects such as developing and maintaining databases, organizing travel arrangements, recording and transcribing meeting minutes, aiding in the preparation of various materials for meetings, scheduling and coordinating meetings, managing the department's filing system, and handling accounts payable and receivable tasks.

At Children's Mercy, we are devoted to fostering an environment where everyone feels included and valued.

The ideal candidate for this role will join us in our mission to cultivate a workplace that mirrors the community we serve, embodying our core values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, teamwork, and integrity.

Furthermore, we prioritize transparency with all prospective candidates.

To ensure the safety of our patients, families, and staff, we require that all employees receive the seasonal influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

New hires must also be prepared to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chicken pox (varicella), and provide evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination if not previously documented since 2005.

If you are selected as a finalist for this position and have concerns regarding these vaccinations, we can discuss medical and/or religious exemptions with Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and clerical support for the department.

Manage office communications, including telephone, FAX, and email.

Conduct accounting activities, prepare expense reports, assist with capital equipment requests, and procure office supplies.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Benefits at Children's Mercy:

Our benefits offerings are one of the many reasons we are recognized as one of the premier workplaces in Kansas City.

Our plans are tailored to meet the evolving needs of our employees and their families.

Compensation:
Our salary ranges are competitive within the market.

The starting pay for this position begins at $18.74/hr, with final offers determined by education and experience.

Remote Work Opportunities:

This position allows for intermittent remote work, meaning the selected candidate will collaborate with their manager to establish a schedule that includes both remote and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location.

The individual must reside within the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Equal Employment Opportunity:

Children's Mercy is committed to hiring individuals based on their skills, expertise, and ability to maintain professional relationships with colleagues, patients, parents, and visitors.

Factors such as personal interviews, formal education, training, prior work experience, references, and a criminal background check are considered in selecting the best candidates.

We do not discriminate against prospective or current employees based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, creed, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ancestry, or veteran status.

A drug screening will be conducted upon hire. Children's Mercy maintains a smoke and tobacco-free environment.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:
Children's Mercy is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our patients and families come from diverse backgrounds, and so do we.

We recognize that our greatest strengths arise from the varied perspectives of our team members, which is why we actively seek to hire individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, not only because it is the right thing to do but because it enhances our hospital's strength and compassion in patient care.

If you share our values and passion for service, you will find a welcoming environment at Children's Mercy.
