We are currently seeking a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to join a prominent automotive manufacturing organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety within the workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and uphold comprehensive EHS programs and policies that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead the EHS team, offering guidance and support to promote high performance and ongoing improvement.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to pinpoint potential hazards, evaluate risks, and enforce appropriate safety measures.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, applying root cause analysis to develop effective corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate training sessions for employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain meticulous records related to safety inspections, training, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and ensure timely updates to policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate EHS considerations into the planning and execution of new processes and equipment.
  • Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with permits and reporting requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
  • Oversee waste management, recycling initiatives, and pollution prevention strategies.
  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts and coordinate with external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance and improvement initiatives to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is advantageous.
